CATALONIA: GUIMERÀ

Guimerà is a medieval village located in an area of Catalonia known as La Ruta del Cister (the Cistercian Route). The name of this route comes from the artistic and cultural heritage of three Cistercian monasteries: Santes Creus, Poblet and Vallbona de les Monges.

The real attraction of Guimerà is the medieval heart of the town, a maze of narrow streets which go up to the gothic church of Santa Maria and the watchtower.

Walking through its streets crossed by covered galleries or balconies, its well preserved arches, stairs and stone houses with decorative elements from doors and windows make you relive ancient times.
